Located a 20-minute taxi ride from Ipanema and Copacabana, Aprezivel is tucked along a narrow street in Santa Teresa where a small doorway leads to down a treacherously steep staircase and to a series of outdoor terraces captured under dramatic overgrown trees that surround the main dining room. A plantation style of tall rafter ceilings, raw wood floors and open architecture offers one of the most unique dining experiences in Rio as well as one of its toughest reservations.
The Food
A menu of Brazilian specialties and European-influenced dishes offers dishes like beef carpaccio, arugula and parmesan salad and traditional baked dishes that offer a glimpse of true local cooking traditions. Main courses include mostly fish and beef dishes with the latter being more preferable with sides of roasted potatoes, local casseroles and fresh vegetables.
Last Word
Before you leave Santa Teresa, take a drive through the main town and consider a stop into a few of the neighborhood bars with their exquisite architecture and local charm.
